Kornskydiver Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Hey guys, I have a 15cm extension on my warthog and I was wondering what curvature and saturation settings you would recommend for the Huey? I am looking for more realism with accurate throw on the cyclic collective and rudders. Any insight or recommendations would greatly be appreciated [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
PeroperoDokkiri Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I am using slightly modified G940, here are my cyclic axis settings: I am slowly working torwards full range of motion, I will be setting curve from 83 to 85 tomorrow, next week 88 etc. As for collective I am using pretty much linear curves. My pedals have very short travel range, so I have to work around that :/ [sIGPIC]http://i55.tinypic.com/21oydlx.jpg[/sIGPIC] ヒューイ最高!o(≧∇≦o)

After seeing videos of people flying the Huey, these guys are BARELY moving the cyclic an inche...it seems to be a very sensitive bird for sure [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
PeroperoDokkiri Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 saturation y gives you less ingame motion in exchange for less sensitivity. Let's remember RL cyclic travel range is much wider than our joysticks :) If you wanted to move a joystick LESS, then I guess you could play with Saturation X leaving Saturation Y on 100. But that can make flying really, really tricky. [sIGPIC]http://i55.tinypic.com/21oydlx.jpg[/sIGPIC] ヒューイ最高!o(≧∇≦o)
irqpawn Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Tom Baca, a well known and respected Viet Nam Huey pilot said that he could get the helicopter to do whatever he needed without moving the cyclic more than the size of a silver dollar. It's obviously not the same experience on a computer especially with a short throw stick and no real acceleration/deceleration reference but I think curves are only needed to compensate for cheaper pots around the centers. My 2 cents.
PeroperoDokkiri Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 He was right. That's what my settings work like after you change Saturation Y from 83 to 90 (I am currently at 87, will move 90 next week). You can disregard curvature too, and make it linear. [sIGPIC]http://i55.tinypic.com/21oydlx.jpg[/sIGPIC] ヒューイ最高!o(≧∇≦o)
irqpawn Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Lots of us know but if I said I said it most would be like, "What?"
