TucksonSonny Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Don't blame me, I didn't come up with the title: http://www.popsci.com/popsci/aviationspace/95e16f096bd8d010vgnvcm1000004eecbccdrcrd.html :) No canopy? Kusch Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 This is better, but from Nellis http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/metty/index.jhtml Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!
dodger42 Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 no canopy I think that is an artists impression of the fabled 'aurora'. I guess the artist figured its a drone or that given the speed and altitude at which it operates, visual flight is not unimportant. Who knows, but it looks v.cool. Kind of looks like two hatches on top. Though given the project is not even known to be true, this drawing could be very far from realistic. . . . Lockon Advanced Realism with Touch-Buddy
Black_Hawk Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Just 2 things: Aurora is supposed to replace (already retired SR-71 AKA Blackbird :joystick:) and it is supposed to be a RECON aircraft, not a dogfighter or a BVR hunter. :smartass: And that photo kinda looks like a Flanker to me. Look at the nose color and the rest of the color scheme. I don't think that USAF would color their stealth top-secret toys in cyan :D (Do B-2, F-117A, U-2 and Blackbird ring some bells?) :pilotfly: 159th GAR LockOnFiles CAW Team
