Worrazen Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 When DCS runs normally for me around 120-80 FPS average and 140-40 FPS at extremes. The GPU activity is variating through 60-95. But when I pause DCS and alt-tab out, with or without alt-tab, the GPU activity lock at 99% and the Fan starts getting noisier. When paused the FPS is flucuating around 90 FPS or at the FPS it was paused at. I have made sure I played around a bit to not report false. I have put the plane into autopilot and tried moving around, the major point is that when the game is paused while the FPS indicator remains the same as when it is unpaused it has a higher GPU activity, so just running the game at the same 90 FPS and watching the plane fly from some distance away in F2 mode is less taxing on the GPU then having the game paused in that same F2 view with same FPS, the FPS indicator is variating while the game is paused, I believe many modern games properly pause the game and if this is how it always was it probably is old code, so I see this as a bug. Win7 Ultimate x64 Radeon R7 370 2GB Radeon Software Version 16.6.1 And I have a Sandy Bridge-E Core i7 3820 at 3.6 GHz I'm not sure if it's an old or new issue, since I noticed it because the fans increaes more than normally when I was checking controls menu, but it's the heat of the summer so maybe it was like this all the time it just didn't got past the noise level before for me to notice a significant change. ezfox Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Doesnt limiting the framerate using the MaxFPS option in graphics.cfg fix this ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
aairon Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Well Wader8 it looks like they couldn't understand you for some reason. I've had the same thing, Though I haven't tried alt tab in awhile, I'll check it out and check back. Update: yep it still runs the gpu temps up. P.S.that one suggestion seems akin to someone saying their throttle sticks wide open when they come to a stop, his response 'isn't that what a rev limiter is for'? rofl The other one.. well I think that was a stab at sarcasm which rarely works well across the interweb. Worrazen Posted January 26, 2017 Author Posted January 26, 2017 I forgot about this thread and later mentioned this problem here again: This is not technically a bug, it's working as it should, as far as code goes, but it's probably not what we way we want in practise. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=177839&highlight=pause Modules: A-10C I/II, F/A-18C, Mig-21Bis, M-2000C, AJS-37, Spitfire LF Mk.
