Is there a mod that makes the cockpit glass more clear?

I've been playing the new Mig-15 campaign but it kind of looks like the canopy glass is tinted. If I stick my head past the glass it becomes much more clear.

I've meet same frustration flying Mig last night. I'm going to create clear (or less tinted) glass mod today's evening.

Good idea!

Will this mod apply to all aircrafts, or is it type specific?

Type specific. Each aircraft has own texture.

I'm just thinking - Mig-15 has 64mm front glass and 8mm on the sides - should tint be different or not?

Yesterday I was just thinking that it would be nice to have a bit of dirt here and there on the glass of all aircrafts to make the glass more visible and increase the sense of being surrounded by it.:music_whistling:

Dirt is another thing. Same file, same technology but used different way.

OK, team, here what I have now.

Seems like it works (God bless ED!).

There two version of files:

1. No tint (actually it is but very subtle).

2. No tint (almost) on plexiglass parts (canopy and side panels) + almost default tint on glass front panel.

Check this out. ^)

UPD: Submitted, waiting for verification. Have fun.

I think the no tint one looks better. Maybe it should be no tint plus some dirt here and there like average_pilot said.

I wonder how the reflection of cockpit instruments look on this no tint glass?:music_whistling:

I'd be happy with either. Looks great!

Regarding dirt - it is very disputable question.

From one hand - this will indeed add some "Glass feel", from the other hand - military aircraft(and canopy) should be clean. I have only one solid "contra" for dirt - you will cease to notice it in 3-5 minutes.

Also with current technology around canopy reflection and tint - it's hard to got nice dirt dots and bits. In the best way dirt will be represented by sufficiently large blobs.

Check this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=105719 This is the best we can do to mimic dirt. To achieve this effect glass texture was doubled in size.

Reflection of cockpit instruments still there, but ~twice dimmer. Scratches and shadows are still there.

I think it will be different for Helios and Jets... Primarily since Jets fly higher and maybe there's lesser dirt out there at higher altitudes...

Well its up to your preference now mate ... I guess if something is available in low tint-to-clear configuration, it should be all right ...

The Helios are a different ball game altogether ...

No, it is not my preferences at all. :) Actually all this glass plays are not rocket science at all. If you 'd like to change tint or add\remove dirt:

1. Find appropriate texture in unit folder. You can use any DDS viewer to view DDS files.

2. Edit Alpha channel in texture to change transparency. Main rule - BLACK = transparent, WHITE = solid, anything in between is shades of transparency.

3. Save DDS as DX5 (NVIDIA plugin required for Photoshop, have no idea on the other editors)

4. Replace original file or add modded file to additional folder (as it is in my mod for Mig-15)

You also can change texture itself if you like to add come colors on glass.

P.S. At the moment I'm unable to check if mod already approved or not, so keep your eyes on main side, Users Files Section.

Can we get this also for F-5E, please ?

In two weeks ©

But seriously - I can't promise this for F-5 anytime soon. Crowded with work things. I'm not even fired f-5 up yet, despite the fact it was pre-purchased long time ago. But I'll take a look anyway.

Check my earlier post - this is easy DIY task.
