Playseat Air Force + VKN Fat Mamba center pedestal

So I have both, but the default's Playseat enter "pedestal" is way inefficient for a central position stick (between the knees) as it's really intended for civilian style yokes.

Therefore I'm strongly thinking of building a customized one. Main hurdle to designing one is actually the triangular (with rounded angles) section support column. Couldn't they have used a standard, easy to find rectangular section tube ? sheesh.

Anyway, has anyone ever done such a thing before and have technical references for the support column ? Designing the actual stick support plate appears easy in comparison : it will be basically a flat plate the size and shape of the Mamba's base, with screw holes.
