Toxic Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 hey gents. I recently built a new pc and everything is going well but the sound. When I am playing a game I get a popping or crackling sound at times. And then if enough sounds come in at once my entire sound becomes distorted. Motherboard: ASUS Z170-A Windows 10 64-bit I am using a USB headset, Corsair VOID (about to switch to a set if Sennheisers) Now I have looked into the issue and uninstalled and reinstalled the audio and USB drivers too. Also, I have set my power management to 'High Performance' too. If anyone has some tips regarding this issue please help! :helpsmilie::helpsmilie: #CHOPPERLIVESMATTER http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
agentdarnell Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 After the latest win 10 update i am getting the sound clipping as well. From all the research i have done there is not much of solution yet. Some are getting good results with a stand alone audio card thats not realtek. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BitMaster Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 using both, USB and mic/speaker on 2 diff headsets, no issues, also speakers on the rear jacks. Also no complains from any of the machines I upgraded to 10..and that were a few. BitMaster Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 you could also disable all features in BIOS that you dont need to make it somewhat easier for the Plug&Pray Bios to register your devices. Less devices = more choices. Things like IEEE1394/Firewire, RAID chips/functions, Serial Ports, WLAN, Bluetooth, 2nd Network adapter if present etc... disable all those you dont use and see if that helps, it for sure sleeks your windows down. Toxic Posted August 18, 2016 Author Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) Alrighty. I uninstalled a few windows updates and disabled the realtek and uninstalled the realtek sound drivers. I also disabled the built in sound card on my mother board and I still get popping. I have noticed something. Whenever my CPU is underload (30-50%) the popping starts and intensifies. Could something with the CPU be the issue here? Edited August 18, 2016 by Toxic #CHOPPERLIVESMATTER http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BitMaster Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Well, from what you write I suspect some coil firing into your audio circuits. If that holds true there aint much but shielding left to do, which is most likely impossible to apply for onboard chips ( hence the new MoBo's with shielding over the precious Audio chips ! ). Install an add-on Soundcard and see if that eliminates the ziiirps, if yes, coil whining and induced current is the culprit...and not much can be done but buy better quality next time. Toxic Posted August 18, 2016 Author Posted August 18, 2016 What is you are using a USB headset? #CHOPPERLIVESMATTER http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Toxic Posted August 19, 2016 Author Posted August 19, 2016 Okay, after a lot of research into this problem it seems to be an issue with ASUS motherboards. I've decided to just return my z170-a from ASUS and bought a Gigabyte G1 instead. Thank you for all that helped me. #CHOPPERLIVESMATTER http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
