gunslinger5577 Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Soo... I'm probably missing something.. But after I takeoff I lose the ability to bring up my comms menu. I can use it just find while on the ground, I tune the UHF to the airfield, permission to taxi/takeoff, etc. But as soon as I'm weight off wheels.... I can't call it up anymore.. Anyone else having this problem? Or am I missing something? Thanks. 1

You need to use "RALT+\" to bring up the menu once you're in the air. This is the "UHF Radio Microphone" assignment. You can find it under the "Throttle Quadrant" section of the Control/Key Assignment menu for the F-5. I'm still not sure why ED have implemented the system such that you only need to use that combination after take off, but there you have it. It frequently trips up Ka-50 and L-39 pilots, too. Hope that helps, anyway. nomdeplume Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 You can also use the nosewheel steering button to open the comms menu, as this button functions as a secondary/alternative mic switch in the F-5 once you're off the ground.
gunslinger5577 Posted August 27, 2016 Author Posted August 27, 2016 Hey Thanks! I think I made it harder on myself when I remapped a lot of the buttons on my stick. (I don't have a full on hotas (thrustmaster hotas x) so nosewheel steering had to go for more critical functions. I knew I was missing something, thanks again! G

Worth mentioning that it is also a real-life feature of the F-5, the nosewheel sterring button can be used as PTT when airborne. 1 5e Escadre Virtuelle du Canada / 5 Virtual Wing of Canada Intel i7-14700F / 64GB RAM / Kingston NV2 2TB NVMe / Crucial P3 Plus 2TB NVMe / NVIDIA RTX 4070 Super / Meta Quest 3 / HOTAS Warthog / F/A-18C Hornet HOTAS ADD-ON Grip / WINWING Super Taurus Throttle / Saitek PRO Flight Combat Rudder Pedals / Win 10 Pro Modules owned: P-51D, F-86F, A-10C, M-2000C, F-5E, F-15C, F/A-18C, F-16C Maps: NTTR, Persian Gulf, Syria, Sinai, Kola.
