MacThai_75 Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I was going to post this in the the general discussion section, but although I certainly 'am' interested in any changes it may have made to DCS, I'm more interested in if the new Win 10 Anniversary update has impacted DCS VR in any way, as well. I forced the update on my non-gaming PC (Settings - Updates and Security- check for updates) and other than it having an issue with my Gadgets (it automatically notified me that it needed to do a repair, and asked if I want to to have Win repair it ... which it did with no problems) it appears to be working just fine on this PC. So ... has anyone done the Anniversary update (either forced or via the roll-out) on their gaming PC? If so ... any negative issues, or positive benefits with DCS VR? :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] XSPC Water Cooled ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Formula Intel i7-6700K @ 4.5Ghz 32GB-3200Mhz Rip Jaw DDR4 RAM. MacThai_75 Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 None so far. What modules do you have and when did you update to Win 10 version 1607? Maybe ED fixed them all after the posts that Rangi linked to? I'm in a remote area in the Sierras with slow-assed DSL that D/Ls at like 300 to 400 KBS, so Having to re-reg the affected modules would be like "Yah, eet's reely sawkink nau" for me! :( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] XSPC Water Cooled ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Formula Intel i7-6700K @ 4.5Ghz 32GB-3200Mhz Rip Jaw DDR4 RAM. hansangb Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I flew A10 in 1.5 and 2.x (latest beta). 1.5 in monitor and Rift mode, 2.0 in Rift only. Hmm, I had to reboot because of Norton update, and noticed the windows update notice. I assumed the 1607 happened prior to that. I'll have to double check now. I know it installed 1607. I'll fire it up again, to see what happens hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

In the meantime I went over the the Oculus site and read this ... https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/41154/windows-10-anniversary-update-causing-huge-problems Although all these are from early Aug, I'm thinking I should probably pull the wifi connection on my gaming PC until the waves on 1607 are confirmed smooth. :surrender: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] XSPC Water Cooled ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Formula Intel i7-6700K @ 4.5Ghz 32GB-3200Mhz Rip Jaw DDR4 RAM. hansangb Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Nope. 1.5 and 2.x in CV1 works just fine! I fired up the instant action missions in A10. craig_sez Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 For me when windows 10 came out and offered the free upgrade i said what the heck..Every so often mine has a issue, blue screen with the name of the issue and shuts down..I can never have a pen and paper in time to coy down the error name.. The "SCALES" of aeronautical performance will weigh heavily on your next move..

MacThai_75 Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) Yeah, but it'd be a lot more satisfying to stick MS in the neck with an ice pick! ;) Edited September 4, 2016 by MacThai_75 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] XSPC Water Cooled ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Formula Intel i7-6700K @ 4.5Ghz 32GB-3200Mhz Rip Jaw DDR4 RAM. hansangb Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 And bite the bullet and do a clean install. I'd also reduce any overclocking of CPU or memory to see if it helps. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
hansangb Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Yeah, but it'ld be a lot more satisfying to stick MS in the neck with an ice pick! ;) I know it's popular to bash Microsoft, but Windows 7 and 10? Both have been spectacularly good IMO. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
MacThai_75 Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 Actually I agree. The service packs, "in-flight updates" and new drivers address most ... if not all of the issues I've had over the years, and I interface my PCs to a lot of stuff like machining equipment, telescopes and specialized astro-CCD cameras, HAM gear, 4K video editing, drone programming, cameras, instrument midi and musical devices, studio equipment, and etc. My only real complaints are the Win 10 forced updates, and the frustration when I have to go hunting for new drivers for things that I want to use right now. That's when I'd prefer to just get the ice pick an call it a day. :music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] XSPC Water Cooled ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Formula Intel i7-6700K @ 4.5Ghz 32GB-3200Mhz Rip Jaw DDR4 RAM.
