tob.s Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Hi, short question - is there a faster way to align your compass than running the whole Ins alignment ? thanks
Frederf Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 The only pilot-readable compass is always functional. Click above the INS data entry panel on the right wall to lower it.
tob.s Posted November 26, 2016 Author Posted November 26, 2016 thanks, but i meant if there is a faster way to get the correct heading shown on hud and hsi without running through the whole 4-8 minutes ins alignment ( like manual entering the current heading ) i just read that theres a special option for the mirage to spawn with aligned ins / skip the waiting - ill give this a try, still missions can override & disable this option
Frederf Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Those are not a compass, but instead a heading indicator output for the INS. You don't have to align the system to its best state for it to be usable. After the first STS countdown the alignment is grade 4 and is usable but inferior in quality (although probably unnoticeable for visual navigation). Alignment required, drift are options in the special section of the GUI and there is a per-plane enforcement option in mission creation.
Johnny Dioxin Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 If you just want to save time, you could always just do the full alignment and accelerate time - for offline anyway. Makes sense and isn't cheating because you are gaining no advantage than if you sat and waited.
