rossto1965 Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Hey, maybe someone on this thread could answer my question.... Basically, I am having trouble to find GARTH, going our of TACAN range. thanks https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=177793
spiddx Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 (edited) Climb to around 20k feet and you should keep line of sight to the TACAN station. Works for me that way at least. €dit: Alternatively just use a differnent station, someting like TPH (119X) 130 for 55 should get you there. Use the mission planer with the ruler tool before entering the mission to find out your wanted radials. rossto1965 Posted November 26, 2016 Author Posted November 26, 2016 Ok, will try flying higher... Followup question. When I look at the flight plan map the waypoints do not seem to align well. For example JAYSN is suppose to be BTY 95 37NM but the bearing on the map looks more like 130 degrees, am I missing something? https://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=1297&pictureid=8478
spiddx Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 (edited) am I missing something? Probably magnetic deviation. Mission planer map uses true north, while aircraft HSI use magnetic. Deviation in Nevada should be about 12°, 6° in Black Sea map. viperdogsnake Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 (edited) VORTACs reference magnetic not true. Map also is not drawn to scale, its meant to fit on your kneeboard card. Might also factor in. Edited November 28, 2016 by viperdogsnake on
