Shavik Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Recently we began hosting a server dedicated to running our DCS mission 24/7. The #SierraHotel dedicated server. I have this server setup to host the server publicly with port forwarding / firewall setup at my router. Everyone but me can connect just fine. I've never been able to see the server in the server list but have been able to connect up until recently for 30 second to a minute max before I would get kicked back to the server list with a "connection timed out" message. Now, unknown currently to me whether it's a new DCS thing or a modification I made to the firewall, I can no longer connect at all to the server. Does anyone else have experience running a DCS server locally on a LAN (not the same computer you're playing on) that's setup to be an internet facing computer? I'm kinda at a loss of things to try. Thanks!
Alaiac Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 As an addendum, the only message on the server dcs.log file when Shavik is disconnected is "NET: remove: client[2]"
Alaiac Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 About the best we can figure is that something is going on with the master server seeing two DCS connections from the same IP. We've tried getting Shavik to connect to the public IP and we've tried getting him to connect via the direct lan IP. He is getting the same connection timed out message no matter how we attempt to have him connect. I believe there used to be an option to specifically search for LAN games in the client but that option has either disappeared or we simply cannot find it. If such an option still exists, does anyone out there know how we can enable it, or if it has been removed, what solution, if any, is there for the issue?
Shavik Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 This issue still continues to persist. Would love some ideas for things to try. I very much appreciate anyone's time troubleshooting this issue.
Coug4r Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Got the same setup, no problems here. If you want to see the server in the list locally you should use the default port for the server. When i start a 2nd server, on a non-default port, i don't see it listed either. Thusfar i've had 1 timeout locally, otherwise it works fine. - If man were meant to fly he'd be filled with helium.

Coug4r Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 (edited) Is your gaming PC on the same IP range as the server (same router/subnet)? Do you use the windows firewall (is it enabled) or a 3rd party? Edited January 2, 2017 by Coug4r - If man were meant to fly he'd be filled with helium.
