Rapid71 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Hi, I posted this problem to the saitek community forum, and decided to post it here also. Just in case... ------------------------------------------- Hello, I purchased Saitek X-52 HOTAS system few days ago. Everything worked just dandy, until I started to create profile for Lock On (FC). I have previous configuration, where zoom is at the scroll wheel of the mouse. The wheel in the throttle of the X-52 worked fine (emulating mouse) without any tinkering until I loaded a profile. After that the functionality of the scroll wheel in the throttle disappeared at the desktop as well as in the Lock On. Normal mouse worked ok. The wheel resumed working when I switched back to no profile. The same thing happens, even though I don't make any changes to a new profile. But without any profile setting the wheel works just fine. Subsequently, I tried to make Lock On understand the scroll wheel directly, but that did not work either. If I assign key presses to the wheel, slow zoom works too slowly and fast zoom floods the keyboard buffer! (-> beep beep) I have a (wild) hunch that this is connected to the previously reported problems with the scroll wheel (yes, I waded through all the postings here) and/or some conflict with HID emulation. One person mentions a similiar problem with Microsoft Flight simulator. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Does anyone know reason for this behaviour or a solution? Does anyone have a correctly functioning mouse wheel configured in the Lock On? It's annoying if I have to leave one rotary without function because of this. Oh, almost forgot to mention that the scroll wheel works perfectly well in IL2 Sturmovik! Otherwise I'm very happy with my new toy (X-52 is light years ahead to my previous Microsoft Sidewinder in any aspect) Cheers, Rapid
zaelu Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Yup, known problem. I think you can't do much about it. If you press (and keep it so) another button (pinkie especialy) the wheel works almost correct. Sometimes the wheel is detected as buttons 33 and 34 out of nowhere. Rapid71 Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 I noticed that the wheel-up and wheel-down keys were 'pressed' too fast by the controller. I was able to fix the problem temporarily by recording an Advanced Command in the profiler software and setting zoom-in key '*' being signalled when the wheel-up is pressed, held down and released (with 0.10 sec timing). And correspondingly for the zoom-out key '/'. This way the zoom in the wheel works, but it is some times little twitchy. Rapid
vivaldi0 Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 track IR Just get a track IR and you can open up a lot of cool stuff on the x52. No more fidgeting with thumbs or mouse wheel. It's the real deal. I can at least line up with the runway and land now..ha ha
Rapid71 Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 I do have trackIR. But you still need to zoom in and out, or at least it makes such things as finding targets and aiming easier. And yes, trackIR is the best thing since sliced bread! Makes virtual flying a completely different endeavour by enhancing the feeling of really 'being there' tenfold!
