DCS 1.5.5.59992.205

In the M-2000C, F5E and Mi-8MTV2 modules, the tooltips are not visible in the training missions, except when the missions are launched from the mission editor. The tooltips are also visible when the training missions are launched from the mission menu (by first selecting the training folder).

Tooltips are visible in other missions (campaign, mission, ...).

So it seems to be linked to launching a training mission from the menu, rather than the mission itself (I haven't tried to launch a 'mission' type from the training menu).

The option is enabled in my general settings, and there is no enforcing of the option in the mentioned missions. I'm not using VR, only TrackIR. Not using TrackIR does not change the problem.

It is not general to all modules: the P-51D, A-10C, Bf 109 K-4 and Mig-21bis training missions don't have this problem.

I haven't tested the other modules, and I limited my test to the first training mission.

This could be moved in the release bug thread, still a problem in DCS version 1.5.6.1938.247.

Hello,

I have a theory on this: The person that created the mission did not use Tool Tips and they also have "Use these settings in all missions" checked.

In another example, if a mission creator does not dismount a gun sight and uses the second option I listed, I am stuck with a gun sight, even though I dismount mine on my system. (refers to free flight servers and the L-39).

My theory is: servers should not use the "use these settings in all missions" option.

You must be onto something. :)

From what I see, for example the first training missions of the F-5E and the M-2000C have the same settings, tooltips are not enforced. My general settings allow me to see tooltips and I have the "Use these settings in all missions" checked.

If I run the F-5E training, I can't see tooltips, and if I run the M-2000C training I can.

Now if I load the F-5E training mission in the Mission Editor and save it, later I can see the tooltips when I run it from the same training menu, so some settings must be changed. When I compare the "options" file, in the .miz newly saved mission and the original, this particular line changes (along with others):

["tips"] = false,

becomes

["tips"] = true,

in the options["difficulty"] part.

So apparently the saved options are not entirely correct, and they don't correspond to what is shown in the Mission Editor either.
