BManx2000 Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 I got no response to my post in the beta forum, so I'll repost it here... I'm developing a program using OpenVR overlays to allow pressing buttons with the controller in DCS and other sims. In testing with DCS I noticed a strange behaviour where the overlays would appear to wobble when I moved my head. It seems like the FOV in DCS is slightly wrong or something. This video shows first what it should look like, and second what it look like in DCS:
some1 Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 If they wobble (move back and forth) it's not a problem with FOV, but with low fps / lag. ASW can also introduce some effects like this. If they stay in the same (wrong) position after you move the head, then it's a problem with FOV or scale. Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
BManx2000 Posted February 27, 2017 Author Posted February 27, 2017 You're right, it's not about the wobble, but the way the overlays become misaligned when I turn my head. Maybe DCS is using the same FOV for the Rift and the Vive? Vive has a higher FOV than the Rift, which would explain the misalignment I see in the Vive.
