Despite the very underwhelming response I got when I last posted about this here, I decided to post a follow-up.

I've been testing for the dev of D3DGear for a while and he has finally cracked recording from DCS World in 3D, SBS mode. It look great on mobile/cell-phones and 3D TV as well as in the VR headset.

I uploaded the latest test to YouTube (mic is too low to hear, it was just a quick test):

This gets taken directly from the Oculus output, rather than just recording what is on the monitor. I think he's done a great job! (No, I don't get paid, I just offered to test for the guy). He's worked very hard on this over the last weeks and it looks like he's finally cracked it!

This will transform how we can not just view our mission recordings and tutorial videos etc, but how we can show off VR to the uninitiated. Not to mention showing off DCS World in all its splendour.

I'm really pleased with it, and I'm sure many others will be, too, whether they are DCS World pilots or not - cos it works for all games and sims.

I just had a look on android with Google cardboard and the 3d works great. It is a little disconcerting not have any control over the camera and when I move my head around it's a bit weird the view doesn't change, but well worth a look. Also your commentary is too soft in the aircraft external views.

Man thanks for the follow-up post because I had not seen your original post on this. This is very cool and something I have been interested in myself as I have both a 3d Tv and projector and wanted to see what it would look like on them. As it is SBS any 3d vid player should have no issue with it I assume. I want to check it out.

Thanks guys - yes, having just done a reinstall after an upgrade, I didn't have the volume levels set correctly yet - I had to get on with testing for the dev, though, as he was waiting for me. The videos I have uploaded so far have all been just from testing.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with the response to my first post, as I was asking for opinions and help for the dev, but no response.

With a modicum of effort, these 3D videos could turn out really good.

Don't have the know-how with video editing myself, but I know several in the community are good at it.

The program is not free, though - which will put a lot of people off, unfortunately, think I paid about $35, though I think you can find coupons around to get it cheaper. It has been available via Steam for a while now, too. What's good is that I've had D3DGear for years and all the updates have been free and always a link sent to my inbox. Support has been good, too - that's how I got to be testing in the first place.

I bought Movavi a few months ago and within a week of me shelling out around $45 for it, they were trying to sell me the next update for around $35. What a difference.

I don't know when the public update to add this function is planned (I'll ask).

It's a start, anyway. :)

Missed your first post as well but I like the idea. Really interested on this who project, would like to have a better option when streaming to Twitch.tv.

I haven't tested the streaming yet - though the dev tells me the 3D SBS will work just as well with streaming.

I understand this update has been released already, so it should be good to go.
