A-10a mission; Cruise ship Hijack

This is a ship-attack mission for the A10.

From the briefing:

 

--- Prelude ---

Abkhaz seperatist seized some Russian naval vessels just before Russia withdraw

from the Gudauta region last year. They seemed to have vanished from the earth

until yesterday.

The seperatist claim to have hijacked a small cruise ship and demand two nearby cargo

vessels to join them. To avoid blood-shed russia granted there wish (for now).

 

Two patrolling F-14A's located the hijackers some 70nm south-east of Adler. The

seperatist used three Molniya-class corvettes to seize the cruise ship and a Neustrashimy

class frigate (complete with a chopper on the deck) is heading for the corvettes as

well. I't seems they are after the contents of the cargo ships.

 

The F-14A's take part in a US/UK/USSR joint Naval training with Adler airport as

home base. Russian forces asked the participants of this training to assist.

Two US frigates are on their way but we can't wait that long.

 

--- Mission ---

Allthough your A-10a is not designed for naval attacks, the MAV's under your wing

can deliver quite a punch. You and your wingman will join your collegues from the

US and UK navy flying the S-3B and F-2 to engage the enemy ships.

 

--- ROE ---

The S-3B's and F-2's are carying anti-ship missiles and will engage the frigatte since

this is the most lethal threat. You are tasked to destroy the corvettes.

Both the cargo vessels and cruise ship must survive. The latest news is that a submarine

has been spotted some 10nm east of your target area. This is your secundairy target.

 

--- take off / landing ---

Adler is a regional airport and has busy traffic in the summer time.

For military aircraft the use of runway 206/26 is mandatory !!

 

Upon mission entry you will find yourself in front of the taxi lane towards the mid of

runway 206. Using full flaps, this should leave you enough runway to take off from.

 

After landing on runway 26 taxi to the maintenance area (where the C-130 is parked)

since service on your Hog is long overdue.
