Here's a video and a campaign all wrapped up in one - and the music sounds a bit like that on the Mein Hertz movie I downloaded from a German site the other day. The description for Operation Lasting Liberty is now available in Russian, French and German.

Operation Lasting Liberty

Winter 1995. Four years after the Soviet Union abandoned Rostov and Krasnodar regions to the Bataysk National Independence Liberation Army (BATNILA) the area has become a pariah state, part of the Axis of Wickedness.

NATO forces have just taken over from Russian troops as part of an international peacekeeping force in the western half of Krasnodar province. However, operations are about to start in the lawless area to the east of Maykop where there has been a resurgence in BATNILA activity, possible due to supplies of weapons coming in across the border from neighbouring Georgia.

The 7th Allied Tactical Air Force has deployed its A-10 aircraft to their Forward Operating Locations (FOLs) in the Black Sea region. You have arrived in the conflict area with the 731st Fighter Squadron and you are leading a flight operating out of its FOL at Maykop Air Base.

Mission 1 Ambush at Timirjazeva.

Day 1. 14:45 Hrs. NATO infantry fighting vehicles, sent to attack a convoy of trucks and coaches carrying BATNILA fighters up the highway from Kamennomostskij, have been ambushed at the Timirjazeva railway bridge (SP2).

The location of the ambush is only 10 minutes flying time away, so start engines and get airborne immediately and engage the enemy. Then proceed south and find and destroy the convoy. Your targets will be designated by laser. Rebel fighters in the area are well equipped with MANPADS.

Your call-sign: Ford 11

Weather is fine, sky clear 23 F

AWACS and Tanker unavailable.

Home Plate: Maykop Air Base (SP5)

Emergency landing field: Krasnodar-Pashkovskiy International Airport (SP6).

Mission 2 Interdiction at Veseloe.

Day 2. 09:00 Hrs. A recce flight has spotted enemy supply columns on the move close to the Georgian border at Veseloe (SP3). Get airborne with your wingman and engage these vehicles.

Transit to and from the target area at or above 12,000 ft to reduce the risk of being fired on by MANPADS.

A Marine Corp AH-1W helicopter will laser designate the targets for you.

Rules of Engagement strictly forbid you from attacking targets on the Georgian side of the border, i.e. east of the river at Veseloe.

Your call-sign: Dodge 11

Weather is fine with scattered cloud at 3,000 ft, 30 F

AWACS and Tanker unavailable.

Home Plate: Maykop Air Base (SP7)

Emergency landing field: Krasnodar-Pashkovskiy International Airport (SP8).

Mission 3 Bunker Busting at Kurdzhinovo.

Day 3. 14:30 Hrs. Intelligence has reported that the leader of the BATNILA fighters is currently located in a World War Two era bunker in Kurdzhinovo (SP3). Your mission today is to destroy that bunker (which will be laser designated by Special Forces) using your Mk84 bombs.

Expect the target to be well defended.

Your call-sign: Chevy 11
