How can I fly in VR (HTC Vive) without seeing my keybord?

Hey guys,

I am coming back to this thread after a hot summer where I didn't touch any pc games. The idea of flying in VR is still in my mind even if I had to realize, that I will never have the time to really learn a fighter plane until I am good enough to survive any DCS campaigns.

When flying a modern fighter jet, I can only fight distant pixels. And if I would get once in visible range of an enemy plane, I would be dead before I could find the right buttons...

I thought that flying a helicopter could be more fun as one can fly slower and see more of the surroundings, right? It's just that's a quite expensive investment just for a try, when I must buy a module and pedals just to find out that it's still too hard to learn in my little free time...

Is there an easy to learn helicopter module with tutorials included, that you can recommend for beginners? No Russian labels, please.

Another issue are the controls in VR. I hate to spend hours just to map 50 HOTAS buttons and forget them again, while I cannot find time to play for months. But someone told me that there are modules with clickable cockpits that react on the HMD cursor, so one must only look at a switch in VR and click a HOTAS-button to toggle it. Does it work precisely, so I won't need the mouse? Is the HMD cursor active by default? (I don't own any module with clickable cockpits to try it out)

Yes you do - check the free TF-51 that comes with DCS:world by default.

As for the helicopters:

Ka-50 is the easiest to fly, but the most complex systems and it's in Russian by default. There's English cokcpit available.

Huey is the most difficult to fly, but it's the easiest to learn systems wise.

Mi-8 is big, complex and Russian.

Gazelle is.... weird. I wouldn't recommend it as the first helo module. Besides, it's still in beta.

Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
