FuG 16 Fine Tuning Knob Initialization

Initialization of fine tuning knob can prevent incoming audio from being heard.

 

Setup:

DCS 2.1

Tonopah Test Range Airfield

Bf-109K4 start from ramp

Channel I set 38.5 MHz

 

Actions:

Engage all electrical switches

Set channel I

Request ATC permission to start up

 

Behavior:

No ATC acknowledgement is heard but text reflects permission to start.

 

Actions:

Repeat mission as before except prior to asking permission wiggle fine tuning knob.

 

Behavior (w/ wiggle):

ATC audio is heard.

 

Workaround: When attempting to use the radio rotate the FuG-16 fine tuning knob through any amount of rotation. Otherwise no radio audio or text will be received. This only needs to be done once per session.
