Hambone70 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. I couldn't find it. I would like to install A-10C on a non-networked, non-internet PC. Is this possible? If so, how does the activation work? Thanks in anticipation! Edited July 19, 2017 by Hambone70
bumfire Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Follow the instructions on the activation app, use the "by other means" option to activate without an internet connection. You may need to use another pc with internet access to see the webpage for instructions or to email starforce to get your activation code. But use the other means option and it will get you hooked up.
Hambone70 Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Thanks for that! I'm not sure how to do this. I want to download everything I need at home to an external drive, then install everything on a non-internet PC at work. I already have an A-10C license for home, so I want to buy a second license for the work computer. Will this be possible without the work computer ever seeing the internet? Thanks again!
bumfire Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) Yes hou can activate on your work pc without it having internet access. Here, this explains it all, scroll down to the no internet access option. http://www.star-force.com/support/users/group2.php#123 You can activate via email, phone etc, just follow the instructions and choose which activation option you want to use, example email or phone, text message sms or activate on the starforce website itself. All you need to do is first generate a hardware code via the activation app, once you have got the hardware code generated you can activate offline via one of the above methods. Hambone70 Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Thanks again! How do I get DCS World over to the other PC? When I download the DCS World web installer on this PC, I get the 7MB downloader, and when I launch it, I don't see an option to download DCS World to an external drive to get it to the other PC.

Hambone70 Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) Thanks! I'm now downloading DCS World to an external drive. It's the A-10C I'll be using. I bought a license online, but don't see a downloader. It seems to be embedded in DCS World. How do I get the A-10C files over to the non-internet computer, or are the aircraft already included in DCS World and only need a license number to unlock them? Edited July 19, 2017 by Hambone70
Hambone70 Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 OK! So I downloaded DCS World to an external drive, and copied the files to the non-internet PC. When I run the installer, it won't go anywhere without an internet connection. Am I missing something?
Hambone70 Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 OK... I'm officially frustrated! I suppose I need a step-by-step 'Guide for Dummies'. All I want to do is to install A-10C on a computer that has no internet access, using the license code I just bought. How hard can it be?!
Chump Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Hambone70, the DCS download is a web installer (internet is required). The only way I can think of to do what you are wanting is to completely install it on a networked PC, then copy that to your external.
cichlidfan Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 When the web installer is executed it installs DCS World. Once you move the result onto a new PC, it is already installed and you will need to create the shortcuts appropriate to the new location. Before you move the installation you will need to install the A-10C module. This is done by starting the sim and then going into the Module Manager (checkerboard icon at the top of the screen). The Module Manager, once you are logged in, will prompt you with a list of modules that you own. Once the A-10C is installed, THEN you copy everything to the new PC and create the desktop and/or Start Menu shortcuts. bumfire Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Yea, you will need to install it on your home pc, copy the installation folder onto the external drive, hook up the external drive to your work pc and either leave it connected or copy the contents somewhere onto your work pc. Once you have done that you will manually need to create shortcuts on your desktop that point to dcs.exe i think it is. So in the game installation folder, look in the bin folder i think it is and look for dcs.exe, right click the mouse and select create shortcut, the shortcut will be made in that folder, cut the shortcut out and copy it to your desktop. Once done, double click the shortcut on your desktop and it should then work. I am not at my pc so the names of folders and file names might not be 100% correct. You will need to do this for both 1.5 and 2.0 versions of dcs. It is a pity that ED no longer hosts the actual dcs game files without the need for an automatic downloader/installer like they used to. Just a straight up downloaded exe file so it can be put on a flash drive or removeable hard drive and installed at said location without all this hassle. Edited July 20, 2017 by bumfire
