new to 2000 : startup : HSI red striped

Tried to follow the manual. Sorry but after INS and engine started, FBW test, the HSI is red striped

 

Any idea to solve ?

There are several flags on the HSI (3 at last from memory).

Which one(s) are displayed?

the one with the digits. Is it because I've set no waypoint inside the INS ?

It is because no distance can be displayed.

 

So yes, if you're on 'Nav' without any DEST waypoint it is a possible cause for getting no distance (and no heading by the way).

 

It's not the only one: if you're on 'Tac' and do not receive the Tacan signal, you'll also have no distance and no heading, both those components will therefore be 'flagged'. And so on...
