Martin Baker Mk 14 NACES, two seat hight adjustment switches?

Hello

This may be a very nerdy question, but Im asking because Im doing a cockpit build.

On some images of the Martin Baker Mk 14 NACES seat there seem to be two switches where the one seat hight adjustment switch normaly is. I assume that one is the seat hight adjustment switch but does anybody know what the other one is used for? It cant be the harness reel because that lever is behind it.

Not sure what you might be referring to, you've named both switches on the left side. (Actually the harness lock is more like a knob than a switch.) The seat is referred to as the SJU-17 in US service. Let me know if this image doesn't answer your question, or if you have any others. I should be able to answer them.

It can be seen in this image, i dont know what aircraft the seat is from. There is two switches in the box where the seat hight switch is, the box also seems to be bigger than normal. The seat in your image seems to have one switch. 6b27310e3b0a04a9563a33f4473e149f.jpg

The only aircraft I know that had the tall canopy breakers like that pic is the F-14D... is this by choice? Are you building an F-14 or an F/A-18 cockpit?

To the point, that's not a very clear image, so it's hard to tell what I'm looking at. A little more looking found this image, which definitely shows two switches. I have to say, I have no idea what the second one is for. Martin-Baker Mk14 NACES Ejection Seat The Navy's SJU-17 variants can be found on page 2-3 of this Navy AM study guide. http://navybmr.com/study%20material/NAVEDTRA%2014327.pdf Information provided for the F-14D variants 3/A and 4/A describes seat height switches on the aft right of the seat bucket, which matches the information in F-14D NATOPS (2-244) as can be found through a quick google search. Seriously, I have no idea what's up with those two switches, except that you're looking at one set of pictures of an air show mockup, and it could be modified for display. If you find other pictures confirming it in an airplane, then you've got a real puzzler. Otherwise, I think you'd better build your model with one switch.

If you're building a Hornet cockpit, there's no question: one switch.

Im not building a full cockpit for a specific aircraft actually. Since I fly different aircraft I dont see the need for it, specially if I get VR sometime in the near future.

It will be a kind of closet for my seat that I already have built, I use it now in front of my desk, therefore I have to have shelfs attatched to it on both sides for my HOTAS so I cant have anything on the left side now. If i get it in my planned "closet-setup" I can add the switch Im asking about, maybe I will add the lever for the harness aswell.

The closet will both protect my seat, HOTAS and other stuff at the same time as it will make the apartment look more normal (my girlfriend thinks this is a good thing). My seat is not a exakt Mk 14 copy, but it is highly Martin Baker influenced.

I was thinking of the two switches because It would give one more switch to map to stuff in DCS. But I dont want to add a switch that I dont know what it is for so I will only do one. I cant imagine why there are two switches on those pictures.

The pdf you posted was good, i didnt know there where versions of the Mk 14 with the seat hight switch on the right side behind the manual release handle.
