After 70 years B-17 may be back on duty. Well not the Flying Fort. that pulverized Germany, but the designation.

So Navy and Air Force are looking to using transport aircraft to launch masses of decoys, mini drones, and tactical munitions like cruise missiles. C-130, C-5M, and C-17. Which would turn those platforms into attack bombers. Turning C-17 into B-17.
