i've been playing DCS for years now and I just noticed that there's great dynamic ship damage (with at least some of the ships). i tried searching around the forums for other discussions of this but came up with nothing.

for example: i stuck the Oliver Hazard Perry for a nice cruise along the coastline. and i roll up next to it in my Mi-8 decked out in S-8KOMs. i stay a few hundred feet off the ship's port side and fly sideways so i'm slipping while facing the ship.

i lay off a couple rockets along the length of the ship and where they hit the ship shows a small amount of damage in the form of bent-in holes. however if i lay off like 6 rockets at the exact same spot, a much bigger hole will appear and smoke and fire will actually come from that hole.

if i sink 6 rockets into the the top portion of the ship it actually blows right through it right where i hit it and more smoke and fire come out of there.

this may be common knowledge but i was giddy when i discovered this level of detail!
