ericinexile Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 So you are personally looking for entertainment in your simulations, not necessarily hi fidelity;) We must now beg to differ, you understand that! Mizzy Before I jump in I'll admit that I am about to make a big apples/oranges comparison. Last night I just finished recurrent training in a very hi fidelity full-motion, 180 3D view, EXPENSIVE simulator--albeit for a 737-800. Although I find the actual airplane to be relatively fun to fly, the simulator is decidedly NOT! Even though the sim is one of the latest CAE designs, the visuals are very poor and far inferior to Lomac or MSFS. The flight modeling is far enough off to be very noticeable--despite millions of dollars of systems modeling. In fact, I think the flight model of the 737-800 in FSX is just about as accurate. Anyway, I think if you were given the opportunity to fly a "real" F15 or A10 Simulator (without a human adversary) you would probably recover from your initial excitement in about 10 minutes at which point you would be highly bored and disappointed. Smokin' Hole Smokin' Hole My DCS wish list: Su25, Su30, Mi24, AH1, F/A-18C, Afghanistan ...and frankly, the flight sim world should stop at 1995.

I neither flown the real Boeing 737 :(, nor in FSX nor in an expensive simulator. So I'm not sure of the things I'll say, but I'll do anyway. I believe you if you say that the flight modeling of the expensive simulator is about as good as in FSX. But that would be in nice weather with nothing going wrong. Is it still "just as good" when you have bad weather like fog and/or heavy crosswinds, is it still "just as good" when you fly with mechanical problems like engine failure or something similar? Sven
