F5 radio presets and maual

Hey folks. I've got presets set correctly, and I've set the radio to the correct preset channel and have it in preset mode, and it works fine to receive radio calls. But whenever I try and *make* a radio call, as soon as I try a call (for example, "request startup" on the tower preset channel), the radio automatically switches to "manual" mode and changes the manual frequency to tower. The call doesn't get made -- I then have to make the radio menu selections again to make the correct call...this time with the radio in manual.

 

Has anybody experienced this? What am I doing wrong?

Just doing a gross error check here so hopefully not stating the obvious, but do you have easy comms checked in options? If so, this may be causing the radio to switch to manual.
