Hey Everyone,

I cannot mod the db_countries.lua anymore.

I wanted to do this so every country has its real invetory ...

The smallest change in this file stops DCS from starting now.

Can anyone help me ?

You should edit the lua with utility like Notepad++, encoded as UTF-8 without BOM.

Keep in mind that any modification of db_countries.lua should invalidate integrity check for MP play.

No syntax error, edited with notepad

Dear All,

There should be no syntax error: I deleted once only one plane in a country to check what happened and it freezed.

The slightest change on the original makes the sim not loading.

I used Notepad Version 1709 from Win 10.

Greetings and already many thanks !

Dear Lowpass1976, every time ED releases an update I must modify the country.lua file in order to work with the mod that I have created for the Chilean Air Force (FlightLog). I have never had the problem that you indicate, maybe because I do not modify the planes, only the grades and patches. I use LuaEdit. I hope you can find the problem and share it.

Again, don’t use Notepad integrated in Windows OS: it will save in ANSI or UTF-8 with BOM.

You must use NotePad++ or Luaedit, and save as UTF-8 without BOM.

If there are some symbols or special character, the usual Notepad is not able to save to the correct format suitable for DCS, and you have a corrupted lua file.

THANKS Automan

THANK YOU VERY MUCH AUTOMAN !!!!

Indeed, I downloaded Luaedit and it worked !

Now my Airforces, groundforces and others are somewhat populated :)

Intrested in my db_country.lua file ?

(It s not perfect on realism yet, but comes already a lot closer than the default ;)

Greetings,

God tip with the Luaedit sw. Used that and was able to edit dc_contries.lua file.

But I see no change in mission editor when selecting units.

I have added som user naval mod files. Earlier they showed up right away.

But now only the default ships are awailable.

Any tip would be apreciated.

I see from Lowpass1976's file that you have added ships, have you added other ships than the default?
