IADC Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Wassup fellow mission builders, its good to see so many still plugging away at it. As i have been away now for a few years at least, taking a break, it has recently sparked some interest again to get back to the flight stick and maybe knock out a decent mission. With the multitude of aircraft available to fly now what if anyone can tell me is the most popular mix of combat aircraft people are flying in missions? Preference to Terrain? Aircraft mix in missions? Precision pinpoint stuff or ground pounding? Can anyone comment on taking old missions, making some changes and re saving them and if this will now work in later versions of DCS like 2.5? Thanks
Grimes Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I think people will tend to try to fly something if its there. :) Everyone has Caucuses so its never not popular, especially with its update. A decent chunk has NTTR I think. Normandy is Normandy. Haven't see it used a ton outside of the WW2 aircraft. A-10C, AV-8B, Mirage, Viggen, Ka-50, Huey, and Mi-8 tend to be quite popular. As for updating a mission. Big thing you gotta look out for are trees. The new map has a ton of trees and more likely than not some object is likely in a new forest. Also triggers based on altitude may have been effected due to terrain mesh changes. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. NeilWillis Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Your biggest problem with old missions will be the location of new woods. You will need to move stuff around in some missions or it may just be hidden. As to whether updating will break missions under the new system - who knows until you try it out? Just back up the mission first, and see where changes take you.
IADC Posted February 7, 2018 Author Posted February 7, 2018 Ok guys thanks for the update. I think old missions just need to be avoided to save stress. Would be easier to rebuild the missions from scratch and use old voice overs around similar tactical values and settings. Appreciate your comments and suggestions as always.
