AN AI That can be programmed to train the client instead of just communicate

Here’s what I’m referring to. Ever wonder why there are so many instructional or demonstration you tube videos, its because there isn’t a third party way of providing Ther information to you while your in the aircraft, or that’s what I’ve been told. As some may know I’m trying to script the Intial Entry Rotary Wing training course the us army used for their beginning helo pilots for the Huey. I have figured out three or four meathods to do it the first and most relealisic ie best isn’t even possible in dcs. The second is possible but ed would have to do it, the third is not the worst but not the best and the last is imo the worst and current way of doing it.

 

Here are the four meathods I’m referring to:

 

Method 1) program the ai toexplain, demonstrate, and the coach the student on the task before evaluating them on the task if required.

 

Method 2) record a video of someone acting as the ip (instructor pilot) preforming the explanation and demostration phase of the training then switches the control to the sp (student pilot for the learning/Familaration and evaluation phase of the training then back to the ip for the next task. all switching ideally between ip and sp is handled automatically by dcs world.

 

Method 3) record a video like above but having the student pause the sim to play the videos outside of dcs world and then return to the sim to practice and be evaluated. Not as good as if dcs world handled the videos and controls of everything.

 

Method 4) the current way you tube video demonstrations out of dcs world then trying to remember the steps after you go in to dcs world. Not very effective even for those that can remember the steps once they return to dcs world. The demostrations are nice especially the video like wags does on aircraft still in development it show you whT YOU ARE BUYING AND WHAT IT SHould be capable of.

 

 

I know my presentation isn’t the best but these are for the most part study level sim aircraft if the client wants to go thru a simulated training flight to learn i think it should be available to them. My self I’m working on preparing the scripts for the ierw course once the ability is there. I may release the course under method 3 if i can get it approved and there is a demand. When i started this I wasn’t aware of dcs worlds shortcomings in this area i had seen the three training campaigns by Maple Flag and i bought them and hadn’t tried them out since I’m concentrating on the Huey and learning to properly fly it. After putting out feelers on the basic Huey training to see if it would be worth while i heard comments on the a-10 training that they were not training missions but evaluation missions while nice I’m wanting as true to real life training as i can get in dcs world. A few more interact cations with ther ai where it can 1) be in the same aircraft as a client occupying a different seat or crew position would be the first step that way you can have them in the co pilot seat give control of the aircraft to the ai the ai flys the current program flight plan then you could operate the guns and missiles as the pilot while the copilot flys the ac or you could jump to a door gunner position and fire that gun while the copilot flys the ac no simulated auto pilot in the Huey.

 

The next phase would be being able to program the ai to do things in the ac like explain a task while flying the aircraft the demonstrate the task then transfer controls to the client and coach them on what to do when do do it etc and all correct the bad things they are doing just like an ip would. Then programs the ai to evaluate the task as the sp preforms it if an evaluation is needed then be able to transfer control of the ac back to the ai using sops.

 

I think once your able to put the ai in a certain open seat of an ac and be able to program them to say and do what you want them to do in that crew position and be able to swap control of the ac by standard operating procedures then i think we can have the ability to fly true training missions. I know not all ac have more than one crew position in those cases the sp learns to fly in a multiple seat aircraft with an ip once they pass the basic flight phase then they start training in a sim before thei first solo flight in the single seat aircraft and then its un the constant supervision of the ip in a second plane as a wingman/wing leader.
