  1. 1. Crazy Idea for improving Nuggets and noobs skills in no time, frustration free!

    • No I wouldnt like to have it, because me thinks its redundant.
    • Couldnt care less about it, if its there its there simply as an extra feature.
    • I would like it for better training, we got virtual combat, why not having virtual Top Gun as well?!

I was reading a book I have and reached the ACMI chapter where pilots were debriefed with computerized images of their perfomances. I know what you guys will think at first as soon as you read this last line: Its already here with Falcon 4 ACMI and Virtuoz's tool, but my idea takes a step further than this.

Instead of blowing up your nuggets and force him to reload mission from the beggining I suggest the following:

To make possible in a future ED SIM for the inclusion of virtual TOP gun training range map where you wouldnt be blowing up each others for "real" like a serious match, instead you would get your targets lit up and glow inside a transparent red box (ala Operation red flag movie AWACS ACMI), guns shots would be represented by turbolaser shells like start wars :D but without producing damage to the target, missiles would be represented by glowing pink poles with red ribbon trails. This way every time the planes get "hit" their pilots would be signaled by a message that they have been hit and prompted to start the fight anytime without reloading the mission or ramp start their planes from base all over again, just declared ressuscitated and have their kill death boxes removed in midair for repeated rounds, just like the agressors in red flag exercises.

This would increase the usefull time you spend piloting and learning without lost time periods in between, as well as avoiding bruising egos and rustration.

Aditionaly you could add ROE's for these kind of exercises like altitude boxes and other objectives edited in the mission editor. Ressuscitations could be donne automaticaly by aspect and distance to each others planes or by manual command.

This could be usefull for squad training sessions or for special ones given periodicaly for introducing newbies for faster introduction, learining and hassle free.

What do you think?

So anyway, I just set these missions up with the 'immortal' button checked ... the nuggets find shooting at me pretty entertaining (and my IP finds me trying to shoot him down pretty entertaining too, I'm sure. Or frustrating, given how slow I am to pick this stuff up :D )

...well, but then your always able to fire no matter what...in my idea you would be prevented from firing and remain declared dead untill resuscitated, by command or certain scriped spacial conditions, in adition your weapons would be reloaded on resusciation, but limited while your not declared dead--NOT the same thing as invulnerable mode with unlimited ammo.

Invulnerable+unimited ammo mode will keep you from controling noob indiscipline :D , and is pretty anarchic. In the end everyone will secumb to airquake and learn nothing.

With Top Gun there is a measure of controll over this.

In a squad setting there's no problem with that.

If they can't deal with such things, then they don't belong in the squad, and I don't want to deal with them - they'd find a way to annoy me regardless of the actual system in software.

It's a neat feature Pilotasso, but I would say not a necessary one since an existing feature can be used to deal with it.

And, being able to employ your weapons is likely a 'leg up' on actual Red Flag ;)

The instructor can right away know if you really did have a tracking kill, or just a snapshot, for example. I could take something that I'd 'claim' to be a tracking kill, yet realistically speaking, my stick makes the pipper fly about so much that I would not hit with a lethal burst.

I always thought mock engagements would be a cool thing to model in a sim. It seems like it would make missions more realistic as opposed to the all-out-war thing all the time.
