I have noticed in v2.5 that Vsync reduces my FPS and switching it off results in better performance without any noticeable screen tearing. Vsync was capping my frame rate at 30 in some cases.

Is Nvidia Adaptive Vsync worth trying. I’m not sure I can discern whether it’s functioning or not.

Is this a single or a multidisplay setup?

FWIW, the last time I used adaptive vsync it gave me all kinds of grief - stutters and whatnot - so I just switched it off and went back to conventional vsync instead. However, your reporting of seeing more F/S and no screen tearing with it off altogether sounds interesting to say the least... no screen tearing and/or skipped frames at all???

I've had good luck just having NVIDIA Control Panel set to have VSYNC set to ON. It made a big difference from the OFF option and VSYNC enabled in game. I haven't tried Adaptive yet since ON is working fine.

I’m using a single UHD display.

I tried testing Adaptive Vsync by setting it to “half refresh rate” figuring I would see my FPS capped at 30 as evidence it was functioning. But I don’t see that.

So far simply switching Vsync off in DCS seems to work very well. I get smooth high rates and no tearing. In some cases it’s improving my FPS from 30 to 50 or 60+

An example mission is the A-10 Instant Action, winter. With VS on I get 30 FPS and no adjustment to graphic settings will improve that. Switch VS off and it goes up into the 50s. Very nice. I can set everything maximum with no trouble.

Ok having checked this more. Vsync settings from Nvidia Control Panel do function in DCS if DCS is set to "Full Screen" and of course Vsync in DCS is set to off.

NCP Adaptive Half Refresh Rate caps the FPS at 60 in DCS, so it's functioning but maybe not how I expected, but it works. I'll just experiment for myself to see which I prefer. But this doesn't look like a "bug" in the game.
