Use of A/B in RL ACM

I've been wondering how much real life pilots use afterburner when doing BFM/ACM, both in training and war situations (if there are any records of this).

 

We all know how it is online in DCS. most people takeoff in afterburner and pretty much leaves the throttles there for the rest of the flight.
