twistking Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Hello, first of all i must say, that i'm very pleased with the performance of 2.5 on my old system. it looks great and fps are more consistent than on 1.5. i've got a i7-860 clocked at 3,8ghz, 8gb ram, windows 10 on ssd / dcs on hdd, gtx 770 (4gb) (atm i'm on an old, backup 5:4 monitor, so the gpu does not need to push many pixels) i don't experience crashes or other severe problem that have to do with ram, or lack thereof. however, on caucasus i experience some "on first load" stuttering with assets, effects, sound samples etc. so in the first minutes of flying i experience some severe stutter with heavy HDD activity, which on my first flight made me think, i would not have enough ram for 2.5 caucasus. however after all that "on first load" stutter is gone, the game runs absoulutely smooth and without any stutter or lag. even switching through objects with the f keys only occasionaly produces lag, which would be to expect imho. so while others experience dcs demanding to much memory, i feel on my system i had a better experienced if dcs grabbed even a little bit more, since when everything is loaded in, it runs smooth withut stuttering and crashes. i suspect the stutter is related to either dcs detecting my low amount of ram and then being a little bit too conservative with ram management at first, or dcs being to optimistic about my HDD latency for grabbing stuff on the fly. My improved* wishlist after a decade with DCS *now with 17% more wishes compared to the original
