Snapps Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 I'm having a hard time working this out. I have the target area designated, I get the release cue and drop but my gpu12s don't guide them selves anywhere but straight. Fuses is set and I've watched and read everything I can on this but they still just drop like dumb bombs. It's like the guidance system in the bomb is turned off. I even had a buddy las an area and when I watch the bomb in f6 it just flies straight and lands over a mile away from where I wanted it to go. I tried to setup an AI jtac and when I get to the 9line call my pilot stops talking. Everything else up to that point seems to be working fine but I think I have two different issues here and I was hoping someone here could explain what it is I'm doing wrong. Thanks!
Frederf Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 It is very hard to get JTAC to emit laser energy. He must have a laser on him (not all units), see the target directly, and decide to use the laser. Once laser is on (make sure code matches config of bomb carried) then delivery should be in a steep dive to ensure laser is seen very early in delivery. Flat delivery means bomb is looking at horizon and not down at laser spot. You should hear "laser on" from JTAC which comes after many many steps in the process.
Snapps Posted May 3, 2018 Author Posted May 3, 2018 Thanks for your reply! I got the LGBs to work in the harrier, took me a while but there are a bunch of videos out there showing how to set them up and deploy and after a while and some practice I did manage to get it in the end. So I pretty much set the jtac up the same, I did notice on the m2000 radio is saying 1275 so I changed that in the ME for the ground unit. When I check in with him he responds to me and it seems like it's going to work but once I get to the part when I have to call the 9line my pilot stops talking and i don't get a reply from the jtac. Last night my buddy was trying to las for me. He presses B then changes his code to 1275 then presses L, not sure if he has to hold it down or just has to line it up and press it once but my LGB is doing the same as if he's not there. Flys straight like an arrow; it's like I'm throwing my bomb at the target and it don't adjust at all. I did manage to hit something I was aiming at last night by flying in around 15k at 300kns and waiting to tag it until it was under my nose and then dropping down designating the target area and bombs away. I still had to aim infront of it and it just flew straight into the target. Maybe I just need more practices but I can't help but think that I'm doing something wrong because when I watch the videos people have posted when they change to F6 view u can see the bomb rocking as it adjust itself to the target but mine flies like a dart. Like I said in my first post I think I have two different issues, one with why my pilot stops talking to the jtac and the other why don't it pick up my buddies laser. From what I understand even without a jtac, just trying to CCRP on my own the bomb should adjust itself? Or because there is no laser and it's just calculating the release point it's normal for it to fly straight and not adjust itself? Any help on this would be awesome, I just got the training missions to work again so I'm going back thru them and in the CCRP training mission it's doing the same thing.
Snapps Posted May 3, 2018 Author Posted May 3, 2018 So I just tried it in the harrier, and it's doing the exact same thing. My pilot only talks to the jtac up to the 9line call then stops speaking. Doing the same thing with the gpu12s I mark the ground and drop and they fly straight like an arrow and don't adjust or move at all. I have made sure both jtac and the harrier are set to 1688 as well. Anyone else have anything like this happen with 2.5.1? It's been a while since I used the harrier and jtac maybe 1.5 or 2,0 but I remember I never had anything like this happen. Pretty much read what I could and watched the videos and it just worked. Nothing I seem to do now helps at all.
Frederf Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 I've seen JTAC breaking reports with 2.5.1. It's difficult to examine the situation in a doubtful software environment. It's better to use 2.5R for this. FAC - Assign Group Group Name -Guided bombs WP-Laser Enfield to JTAC: F9, F1 check in 15min GBU-12 (1688) Axeman: Type 2, go for 9-line Enfield: F1 ready to copy Axeman: 123NA 35' truck GG324362 mark by WP and laser, 1688 east 1400m troops, east Enfield: ready copy remarks Axeman: Use GBU-12 Enfield: 35 GG324362 Axeman: Correct, report IP inbound Enfield: IP inbound Axeman: Continue Fly toward target area Axeman: Mark is on the deck Enfield: Contact the mark Axeman: From the mark 170m west Enfield: Laser on ... Enfield: Laser on (asked again) Axeman: Laser on respond Axeman: Lasing Delivery GBU-12 -17 degree dive from ~5000' Bomb guides and destroys truck Axeman: Target destroyed Axeman: No further tasking available
Snapps Posted May 4, 2018 Author Posted May 4, 2018 Thanks for taking the time to reply again Frederf! That's exactly how I have it setup and I get to the part when the jtac says use gpu12 and when I press f1 to call the 9line my pilot don't speak. I tested it in the harrier too and it's the same thing. I was hoping someone said it's a bug with 5.2.1 because I've been trying to work this out all week with no luck. Right now it's impossible for me to download 2.5R to test it so hopefully we will get an update soon. I'm just going to move on maybe practice air refueling or tightening up my ccip drops. It's a great module and I'm having a blast just flying it around and landing.
