First impression on Cockpit material and my hope

Just finish my first flight on this Hornet and landed it on carrier and down to my cabine,

Of course, I want to say Thank You !!!! Appreciate!!! Amazing!!!

But in my first glimp, only one aspect didn't make me feel satisfy. The the "Material Feeling" of the cockpit. Only in cockpit !

I don't know why and don't know how. I just depend on my first glimp and feeling.

two or three part surfaces make me feel like they are made of paper instead of the real thing( which I don't know what is the marterial, I imagine like AV8b Mig-21 ...these are my favorite feeling on the material of cockpit 's control panels ) Are those control panel's surfaces made of metal with paint? rubber wrapped? plastic? I don't know but definitly not made of paper.

1#

The control surface just below the HUD's glass part Paper like

2#

left and right side control panel surface Paper like

But, those silver metal switches are So......goood about the material feeling.

ALL those feeling above are only in VR(my first flight is in VR mode)

I just finish another flight in 2D, the cockpit's material feeling is perfect in 2D mode!!!!!!

why in VR mode, front panel, left and right panel surfaces feel like paper made, in 2D mode are much much better?

hope ED can figure out and improve it.

that is my hope, I hope is F-18 bacome a classic and perfect one in FS

Thank you!

Panel structure is aluminum alloy. Some bezels and DDI push buttons could be metal alloy, industrial grade plastic or composite material. Knobs are metal alloy or plastic (industrial) with switch's being of metal construction (Mil Std).

I've done some years as a tech on F/A-18A's and the cockpit is pretty damn accurate.

Absolutely agree with you bin801!

Sice they made the cockpit to look like it does now I have the same feelings, it looks like wet paper or something like that (cardboard maybe)...also, the color is too grey and should be much darker/black...another thing is the intensity of the reflectivity which imho is also way too low, there should be much higher shine in the materials (leader, plastics, glass, etc.)...

Hope ED can improve this...:)
