Older unit template how to use?

Ok used the new static template yesterday and besides it infant shortcomings it do have a purpose as I see it maybe not the one I initially hoped for but I figure out ways. Right now it does nothing more than give a static base map since it copies the one map and makes cookie cutter copies of it exactly. I was hoping it was a temple object that could be used to make similar setup at different locations on different maps which have been better. But it just copies the original map minus triggers scripts and any other non static object. Enough on it. The unit template where can I find detailed info on it?
