Question about "auto lock/aim" ?

Hello,

 

 

One quick question here. When I'm on GUN mode, the "systems" is capable to "lock" the target within the HUD circule.

 

 

 

Can we have the same thing with a missile "mode" ? and if yes, how can I do that ? When I'm at a closed distance, I don't have time to manage the lock systems via the radar. The M2000C have this function.

There are ACM modes which mirror what you can do in the Mirage. Select the AIM-7/AIM-9 and then press Sensor Select Forward, which will put you into Boresight (BST) mode - if you put your target in the circle within 10nm it will lock it up, if instead of locking something you press Sensor Select Left you will enter Wide Acquisition mode (WACQ) which will lock up a target within the much bigger circle if it is within 10nm, and if you press Sensor Select Aft you will enter Vertical Scan (can't remember if that's the right name!) which will lock up anything within 5nm that you put between those vertical bars on your HUD.

 

You have to enter Boresight mode (by pressing Sensor Select Forward) before you can access the other ACM modes, and you have to be in the AA master mode for Sensor Select Forward to enter Boresight mode (but selecting the AIM-7/AIM-9 will put you in the AA master mode anyway).

 

You should be warned however - the ACM modes on the Mirage lock much, much, much quicker than the Hornet, where the Mirage will lock something up within a split second or two of appearing in the scan zone, the Hornet can take 3-5 seconds.
