delevero Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) Hello guys. I have an odd problem that I hope you guys can help me with. My computer windows 10 64bit ( installed on a M2 drive c:\ ) AMD Ryzen 1800x 3600mhz 8 cores 16 treats 16gb ddr 4 ram 2800mhz ( can run at 3200mhz ) Nvidia gtx 1080 8gb ram dcs installed on 2xssd in Raid 0 ( D:\ ) Steam installed on the Raid 0 drive as well. ( d:\ ) All drivers and windows are up to date. PIMAX 4k VR headset. My problem is that the game actual run very good in VR even on high settings and 1024 cockpit and so on. It feel smooth and for a VR headset the quality of what is see is good. With other words when I start a new mission then everything is okay and im happy about the speed of the game and the VR experience. Actual that surprises me since my FPS in vr is only 30fps. I presume dcs world 2,5 open beta show 30fps since my pimax 4k headet is loacked to 30 fps pr eye. Be aware that i use the pimax 4k headset and it do not use 90fps to show vr I presume it show VR in another way than ocolus and vive. ( I had the ocolus before, and pimax 4k is much better and less demanding ). Problem However after i play 1-2 houres ( random ) in multiplayer, then all of a sudden VR slow down to 1-2fps and it become impossible to play due to lag. Then one or two things happen.. Either i just sit there with 1-2 fps, or I get a blue screen with the steam VR loading animation ). Then i sit there for sometimes 20 sec.. other times 5-10 minutes before the lag dissaper and i can play again. And i dont know what to do other that wait or kill DCS and Steam VR. I dont understand why, the game run perfect and then all of a sudden i get 1-2 fps after 1-2 houres of playing. If it was just to low FPS or heat issues, then this would happen after 5-10 minutes and not after example 1-2 houres. Once the above happen, then the issue come and goes after X random minutes.. sometimes 10 minutes other times 30 minutes but it return, and typical it take longer to get over it. I have checked if my computer run to hot here in the summer time, but that is not the issue.. The cpu is below 50degrees ( i have water cooling ) and the computer case is also okay. By the way when the computer slow down to 1 fps, then I notised via the task manager ( left ctrl+alt+delete ) that the GPU of my computer uses 100% of the GPU power of my gtx 1080 when the fps lag start. When the 1-2 fps happen then the entire computer slow down, so even if i alt+tab to the desktop then things run slow... The cpu usage is of 30% so that is a bit strange.. So maybe things are related to my gtx 1080 card. I did ofcourse blow out dust in the 1080gtx and checked temperature and so on, and it seem to run just fine with no cooling issues. I tried to unistall the driver via. windows safe mode with special software to remove traces of it, and install new drivers.. this did not solve my issue. I have ofcourse tried to play with the dcs VR settings and also run at lower fps and so on, but that did not fix the problem either. I have reached a point where i dont know what to do, or how i can fix this.. So there for I like to ask for help, maybe you guys have some suggestions. PS.. I have only recently played allot of dcs especially once the f18c and dcs world 2,5 was released. To be honest i dont know if this happen in other planes than the f18c, but maybe i should try to fly the a10 for 1-2 houres and see what happen to rule out its an f18c issue.DxDiag.txt Edited July 29, 2018 by delevero
delevero Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) hmmm all of a sudden the game run better. I updated a chipset driver to my motherboard that wasent on the official download section ( could only find via auto update ) And i updated the firmware of the gtx1080 and the fix had something to do with display ports. When i ran dcs world and a very simple mission i had much better fps.. The VR zoom key that normal tool like 2 seconds to zoom in with now zoom in in 0,5 sec And i have 60fps or a little lower ( wich is good since my vr headset do not need 90 fps to show vr but only 60.. so more than 30 on each eye is good ). I played for 1-2 houres in a simple mission tonight without any VR lag or loading. Not sure if my issue was fixed, that require more testing but it look promising. I used this firmware update for the nvidia gtx 1080 by the way. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nv-uefi-update-x64.html PS.. Other people that i fly with report that the above firmware update made dcs run more smooth with a little more fps. ( after updating the firmware restart and turn off your power for example 2 minutes so the memory of the computer is clear 100% so you avoid black screen) Edited July 30, 2018 by delevero
