The only range indicator you can get is by putting a waypoint on the laser mark and boxing WYPT on the HSI. The Hornet has no other way currently of telling the range to something - we'd need the ATFLIR for that.

Oh and the range is much more than that in practice - as long as you're above 5kft or so you can get hits from the max detection range of the seeker head - which is approximately 16nm. So essentially as long as you're not on the deck, if you can lock, you can hit.

We do not need ATFLIR with laser for that. We get the feature once the Air-to-Ground radar feature is implemented. You use radar to map the area, to spot the targets, to detect the moving targets (actually changes from stationary map) and target to them with the range data.

That is one of the huge benefits in the future with Hornet compared to A-10C, Harrier etc as you don't need to carry pod.

That too, but it sounded like we were gonna get ATFLIR first from what Wags has said previously.

Beazle: you'll need to do it manually, for the Es you normally get told the coordinates of where is being lazed by the JTAC or if it's another human they can read off the coordinates from their Litening TPOD display. Just add it using the normal steps (check Wags' videos or chucks guide if you're not sure).

Yeah ok thanks make sense! I just thought their might be a way to ad a waypoint exactly where you're mav is pointing! Thanks though
