Hi!

As in title - is it possible to shoot AIM-7/AIM-120 off ASE/NIRD circle and have a proper target tracking?

When I shoot AIM-7 off ASE/NIRD circle missile goes stupid. Of course I have lock etc.

Hello,

You are probably very close to target already, while firing the missile with the dot off the ASE circle (not recomended).

Even though the Allowable Steering Error circle is not a lock / target acquisition cue, it is sort of probability of kill / weapons employment zone cue - so it is there for a reason.

But there are parameters though - like for instance, if you are very close to your target already, and / or he is rapidly closing to you, probably the missile will not have suficient space to turn to the target.

And while you had a lock when you fired, eventually the target will be out of the missile's gimbal limits, as the missile is fired and advances forward.

Which means it will not be able to "see" the target and track it.

Try it a longer ranges, and see missile behavior.
