A-10A MER Racks correct position

Hi all,

 

I would like to ask regarding this MER rack that carries 3x Mk20 or 3x Mk-82... Sherpsky's mod (sorry if I misspelled the name)

 

This mod places this MER rack on pylons 4 and 8, and if you load those the outer bomb 3D model overlaps with landing gear hatch.

 

Then after I just started default quick A-10A mission I notice the image of the A-10A actually has this MER rack on pylons 5 and 7... so what gives?

 

I am thinking now if the 3D model of the A-10A and bombs are correct and all the pylons are in correct position compared to real A-10A (and I assume that's the case) after seing this A-10A with MER racks on pylons 5 and 7... I am of the opinion that those pylons 5 and 7 are actually the correct pylons to carry this MER rack.

 

I've decided to change my meinit.xml to show these bomb racks are on pylon 5 ad 7 instead of 4 and 8.

hm... maybe I get the naming wrong... but when I say MER rack I mean the rack that carries multiple Missiles or Bombs.

 

So in this sense if A-10A carries 3x Mavericks on the rack ot bombs I called that MER rack... so that's pretty much all I meant.

 

I was just wondering about that A-10A picture you get on loading default quick A-10A mission which has the tripple rack for mombs on racks 5 and 7

hm... I was just looking at Airlinersnet for A-10A photos and there are quite a few showing this tripple rack on pylons 4 5 7 and 8... by the looks of it the A-10A can carry them on all these pylons?

 

Now I know people say A-10's are never actually loaded in real life with full loadout of Mavericks and bombs... and I assume its because the aircraft would simply be too heavy for combat so to stay on the safe side the US Airforce preffers light loading...

 

So now I feel it's kind of "cheating" to fly the A-10 in LockOn fully loaded :D

 

Also after checking back on this thread (http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=23912) I see Merc's TER's rack is actually what I am referring to... not MER rack... so to finally shut up I think I will leave this TER rack as "available" on all pylons 3 4 5 and 7 8 9 as obviously the A-10A can carry it on all these pylons.

Hey no problems IK I don't think you're picking on me... and even if you would it's a good thinh because I would at least learn something new from someone who knows...

 

now those images showing the tripple racks had nothing loaded on them, but I believe it's only because all those images on airlinersnet are from airshows... so I'm sure they wouldn't load bombs on them at airshows (well maybe mockups)

 

I am just trying to find out what A-10A is possible to carry (in this case tripple bomb racks) and not so much what they actually load on them. I guess if the pylon can carry a single bomb and tripple rack is also possible... then I don't see any reason why, if physically those 3 bomb fit on the racks on certain pylon.

 

Now from LockOn if you load bombs on rack on pylon 4 and 8 the outer bomb will overlap with landing gear... so if the 3D model of A-10 and the bombs are correct in respect to each other... then in real life this kind of loadout would not be possible due to physical restrains. However tripple rack on pylon 5 and 7 has no such restrains. To me it would then make more sense to load tripple bombs on paylons 5 and 7... but then again the overlaping with landing gear might as well be just incorrect 3D model or incorrect pylon position... or both? I am really confused now...

 

EDIT: IK if you know for sure... can you please tell me exactly on what pylons can the A-10A can carry tripple Mk-82's and Mk-20's and that'll put me out of missery :D
