Laobi Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Hi guys, As it says on the title DCS is failing to start after the latest update. Initially it was briefly showing up in the task manager before promptly disappearing without a trace. After running the repair several times I am now getting a failed to launch message. Here is the log: === Log opened UTC 2019-03-02 00:08:29 2019-03-02 00:08:29.282 ALERT SECURITYCONTROL: Failed to parse root_manifest! 2019-03-02 00:08:29.286 INFO DCS: Command line: "K:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" 2019-03-02 00:08:29.286 INFO DCS: DCS/2.5.4.28090 (x86_64; Windows NT 10.0.17763) 2019-03-02 00:08:29.307 INFO DCS: Hwid: xYiHa9VefO_pxTpjZBnW0_8OaXFcwRc-YV5BFg 2019-03-02 00:08:29.307 INFO DCS: DCS revision: 148075 2019-03-02 00:08:29.307 INFO DCS: Renderer revision: 18800 2019-03-02 00:08:29.307 INFO DCS: Terrain revision: 18848 2019-03-02 00:08:29.307 INFO DCS: CPU cores: 4, threads: 4, System RAM: 16259 MB, Pagefile: 32643 MB === Log closed. FourSpeed Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 (edited) Mine is also failing to start as well (different msg though). I also ran a repair twice with No Joy... 2019-03-02 00:26:27.727 INFO EDCORE: DCS/2.5.4.28090 (x86_64; Windows NT 10.0.17134) 2019-03-02 00:26:27.729 INFO EDCORE: 2019-03-02 00:26:27.730 INFO EDCORE: # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0F6918B0 00:00000000 2019-03-02 00:26:27.734 INFO EDCORE: SymInit: Symbol-SearchPath: '.;C:\GAMES\DCS World OpenBeta;C:\GAMES\DCS World OpenBeta\bin;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\system32;SRV*C:\websymbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols;', symOptions: 530, UserName: '############' 2019-03-02 00:26:27.736 INFO EDCORE: OS-Version: 10.0.17134 () 0x100-0x1 2019-03-02 00:26:28.397 INFO EDCORE: 0x00007FFC0F6918B0 ((module-name not available)): (function-name not available) + 0x0 Hoping this gets sorted out soon. ------------ UPDATE -------------- I rolled back the patch with a revert back to 2.5.4.27430. That was successful, and the game was working once again (flew an SP mission to verify that) I then let it update once again to 2.5.4.28090, and this time, the update installed successfully and I was able to run the game with the current patch. I'm not sure why a "repair" didn't fix whatever the original issue was, but the revert and fresh update worked for me, so atm, my situation seems resolved... -------------------------------------- Regards, 4 PS> I did change the UserName in this posting (for privacy purposes). Laobi Posted March 2, 2019 Author Posted March 2, 2019 Delighted you got it working. I have also found a solution for those encountering this particular issue. Download Skate Zilla's (peace and blessings be upon his name) Launcher GUI from here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053 Set your DCS and Save Games paths, run 'Update to Latest Release'. Then try DCS to see if it loads up. Then run 'Update to Latest Beta' and see if it works on your system. Worked great for me, hopefully anyone else encountering this issue will get some benefit from our experiences. klem Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) Will not start. Done all the above including all options in Skatezillas GUI. Log below, seems to be something to do with the Hawk. I even deleted the Hawk folder and repaired. === Log opened UTC 2019-03-04 13:49:31 2019-03-04 13:49:30.294 INFO DCS: Command line: "E:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" 2019-03-04 13:49:30.294 INFO DCS: DCS/2.5.4.28090 (x86_64;
