For some time now, I've had an issue where selecting 'Full Screen' in the DCS option menu makes the mouse cursor invisible when I next start up DCS and Full Screen kicks in. My only recourse is to alt-tab out after it starts up, then click on the DCS window (i.e entering borderless fullscreen mode or whatever Win10 calls it).

If I then go into the cockpit and hit alt-enter to go true fullscreen again, once again the yellow plus sign disappears. The mouse is still working in the sense that I can see things being highlighted momentarily as I move the mouse around; but I cannot see the actual cursor. Alt-enter again restores the mouse cursor. I should also note that toggling between fullscreen and not-fullscreen seems to have zero effect on FPS, which goes against what seems to be the conventional wisdom with DCS that FPS usually jumps with alt-enter -- but I've read that maybe ED changed this a while back such that the FPS difference isn't as pronounced anymore.

And it's not just a DCS thing; I get the exact same issue in Assetto Corsa, which I also run fullscreen.

I feel like I've exhaustively researched the issue and have tried every suggestion I've come across both on this forum and the wider internet:

- Move the taskbar from the top of the screen over to the right side

- Disable Windows' 'full screen optimization'

- Disable Windows' Game DVR

- Try apps like 'Cursor Lock' to force the mouse cursor to not leave the screen

And what feels like a hundred other things. Absolutely none of them have any effect whatsoever on the problem. No matter what I do, fullscreen results in the mouse disappearing.

I run Windows 10 build 1803; a 4K 60Hz monitor; and a GeForce 1080Ti.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes I have had this happen but I know the reason it happens for me.. I run a DLP Projector w/Curved screen and need to use Simpit warp software and when I have desktop warp enabled and go ingame the mouse cursor disappears ingame too..

I know this is not going to help you but maybe somewhere a software program is conflicting with your games somehow??

So all I need to do to get the cursor working again is to disable desktop warp.. Well thing is you have already found a workaround just don't game in Full screen mode and use Borderless window mode if the cursor works there voila you found the solution especially since you say the FPS are mostly the same ;)

Right, it appears that there's no difference in performance, so that wouldn't be reason enough to be concerned about getting full screen working. The reason I would prefer full screen is because I'm tired of Windows allowing other things to pop up over my DCS window when I'm in game. I also remain suspicious about why I'm not seeing any higher frame rate when I go full-screen, as I thought even up to now people generally see performance improvements.

I have tried to shut down all other apps outside of Windows itself that could possibly take over focus from DCS, but that hasn't fixed the problem either.

Problem solved! I'm kicking myself now, but it seems that I never did a simple Google search on the cause of losing a mouse in a full-screen game. Instead I have been focusing just on DCS. Well it turns out that using mouse pointer trails in Windows causes this problem, and as soon as I turned it off, my mouse now works just fine in full screen.
