I am trying to build a spreadsheet for calculating current weight to use for landing. all was going fine until I hit this snag.

(also I am new to making spreadsheets so I may have missed something else)

seems like the weights of weapons in dcs have a decimal value not shown to the player which makes sense but makes this complicated. for example when using the spreadsheet:

empty weight 44040, load 1 aim9m (192 lbs) on 8a in mission editor, enter fuel and empty weight in calculator

ME shows total weight of 44231 with no fuel, no gun, 1 aim 9. and my spreadsheet shows 44232 for the same load.

a 1lb difference isnt bad, but if I load the 2 aim-54a mk60, 3 aim7, 2 aim-9, gun, 2x tanks, full fuel:

ME shows total weight 69208

sheet shows 67738 for the same load

1,470lbs is a lot of error for using the numbers dcs gives me

anyone know where I can get the full values for weights to use so I can get a decent calculation?

Your weights may not be accounting for the weight of weapon rails/attachments, etc.

Using the ME to find what fuel load I will be at for max trap weight, I use a specific weapons loadout and then slide the internal fuel slider to the left until total weight is under 54,000 lbs. Make sure to have empty drop tanks loaded when you do this. You can also mess around with different weapons loads by adding/subtracting missiles and write all these figures down to have handy for a quick reference when landing.

The attached image below has been around the forums and includes the weights that might help you with your spreadsheet.

that load sheet helps to a point but those numbers dont match what gets added to the aircraft in dcs. aim 7 adds 626lbs on a glove station and 507 in the tunnel. that means the glove launcher for the aim 7 is that difference in weight which IS being added by dcs so I have that value for the glove and tunnel. even using those numbers the calculations are still wrong by a little at first then a lot. this means this is not the entire number. just the whole number.

also note it only seems to have a weight for certain launchers. the aim 54 pylons which are on the cat in an empty config do not effect the weight at all if you remove them. but the pylons when you put them on the glove stations do as the plane has a different total weight just by loading to the glove vs tunnel

another example is the aim 9 doesnt add a launcher for 8a and 1a but those values still dont match when adding more than one which was the first example. the given numbers are incomplete making accurate calculation impossible with a margin of error of about 1400lbs for a typical payload which isnt very helpful

Interesting findings tekrc...it seems that the weights for the various weapon attachments/launchers may be a bit off or not included.

I just noticed the problem with the AIM-54 launchers today when removing them from stations 4 and 5 and seeing no weight change. I will post this in the bug forum

I'm sure this applies to other things as well. this is just what I tested so far and found. glad to help though!
