30mikemike Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Hi guys. I’m currently running a 144hz 1080p 24” monitor but I’m feeling I need to upgrade it. Before I pull the trigger on a new one and waste £600 ish I want to know a few things:- I’m looking at the Asus PG278-QR... Will I notice much difference in quality? Will I still be able to comfortably run DCS at 60FPS (locked) with high settings like I do now? Basically, is it worth going to a 1440p monitor? Will I still need to run MSAA x2 and SSAA x2 like I do now? This topic has probably been done to death so please excuse me! Thanks guys... i7 8700k @ 5.0ghz. D.Va Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 If you're already running in SSAA X2, then you're already running in 1440p, speaking of performance. That's how super-sampling works. I suggest checking out a 1440p monitor in a store to see the increase in resolution clarity. Read my DCS 2.5 Optimisation Guide (version 2.5.4): https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3828073

So, say for instance I got a 1440p monitor does that mean I don’t have to run SSAA at all because the resolution is already up there to that quality?? Sorry for the probably daft questions but I just don’t want to spend money on something that’s maybe not necessary. i7 8700k @ 5.0ghz. DflippinK Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 well... ive run my 4k screen at 1440p and cranked up MSAAx4 and use 4x multisample in NVCP... looks killer and is a piece of cake on the GPU vsynced @ 60hz... on a smaller 1440p panel with a tighter pixel density, it would likely be even better... with your specs, i think you should be runnin nice and cool with plenty of headroom.
