Hi all,

I am a bit confused about how to interpret of we are closing or not on a target. After pusruing a Tu22 flying 40k/650TAS and being unable to catch up.

TID symbology in AC stab mode had the target's velocity vector pointing down. So I thought we were closing on him. But by switching to ground stab it was clear he was going away from us.

Can some one show me what is the TID symbology for a target flying away from the ownship both with positive closure rate & negative ?

About the DDD, if I understood correctly in PD modes the closure rate scale is on the left. So if a contact is above the middle of the display it is closing, if it is below it is going away. Is this right ?

Is the aspect switch changing this ?

Lets take the image in attachement.

in PDSearch, what is closing speed of the contact ?

Is it runung away at about 700kts or is it closing ? ? should I use the left or the right scale ?

In the PD-STT image:

On the left the contact is shown close to 500kts of Vc (again same question, closing or opening ? ?)

But on the right of image the "closing rate symbol" is shown around 1000kts ? so which one is it ?

On the right side of TID ? no I think this is a just a computer run indicator (a random number showing computer has not freezed)

EDIT: *My bad* didn't see it showed when target is locked
