Management Summery

The Fuel Shutoff Lever Lock Release Button is absolutely superfluous, not DCS conform, and an unnecessary complication.

--

You are not required to release the Canopy Locking Lever to to open the canopy. You simply "pull" on the Canopy Handle and it opens, and this is the normal behavior in DCS.

So why do you need to contort yourself around to first press the Fuel Shutoff Lever Lock Release Button before being able to operate the Fuel Shutoff Lever, or have to assign TWO binds to operate through controllers?

Please be conform to everything else in DCS, where such extra work is not required, and simply remove the Fuel Shutoff Lever Lock Release Button and let the Fuel Shutoff Lever be operated directly.

I know this is minor, but perhaps one day.... :smilewink:

From DCS 2.5.6.52196 Open Beta change log

Fixed fuel shutoff handle moving when it was supposed to be locked.

1. Why are we going backwards?!?! This was a specific request to NOT require two steps to operate the lever to close the fuel valve.

2. Clicking -- or trying to click -- the thumb-release button does NOTHING, so what now, am I forced to assign a switch to this, so I need 2 switched assigned to shut off the fuel lever?!?!

At the very least have one bind for release the lock and lift the lever, and if some fool wants to have separate switches for each, let them. That would not be my problem.

I honestly don't understand why this got 'fixed', when the unlock button itself doesn't function. Please either just revert it to the 'no lock' state, or actually enable the button in the clickable cockpit, so you can do it without bindings.

Please RAZBAM, this is broken in more ways than one.

Firstly, there is a precedent for not having to 'unlatch' a device before operating it in the canopy. The Canopy Locking Lever is easily accessible by mouse-click, and yet it is not necessary to first operate the Canopy Locking Lever to open the canopy; simply hit LCTRL+C, or whatever you have it bound to, and zip the Canopy Locking Lever releases and the canopy slides open, all in one action.

With the Fuel Shutoff Lever Lock Release Button, it cannot even be accessed with the mouse!! This forces you to assign one of your precious few controller switches -- I'm in VR, so keyboard commands are not viable -- to first release the lock, and then a second to move the lever.

It was just fine after having removed the requirement to use the release button. Not a complaint or even comment was registered, aside from praise for the requirement being removed.

Please FIX this again.
