Pinkie Button (BTN 6) on X-52 Pro doesn't work anymore in DCS

When I started with my new F-14 a couple of weeks ago, I assigned nosewheel steering to the pinkie button of my X-52 Pro (BTN 6). I did that directly in DCS, I'm not using any Logitech Profiler profiles with my Joystick. But now suddenly nosewheel steering or whatever I may assign to the pinkie button of my stick doesn't show any effect in DCS world, doesn't matter in which aircraft.

In the Windows 10 game controller setup the button works, in DCS I can assign functionality to this button by pressing it in the configuration menu (so its recognized even in DCS World), but whatever I assign to this button shows no effect in the game.

I have "clutch mode" switched off in the Windows Game Controller Settings for the HOTAS X-52,and I can't remember what may have been changed since the button once worked in DCS. Any Ideas why the Pinkie Button won't work anymore (only) in DCS World?

EDIT: Even when I assign the Pinkie Button together with a modification Button it works in DCS. It just doesn't work when assigned as a single button.
