Hello All,

I am new to DCS World and DCS Hornet. I have flown flight sims in the past, but not at this level of detail.

I have a few “newbie” questions. I apologize in advance if these are very basic.

1.) I own DCS Hornet (Steam) and DCS Persian Gulf Map (Steam). I purchased and downloaded the Persian Gulf Map before the final release. Will my map automatically update to the final release version? Is there a way to tell if it has been updated?

2.) Most of the mission briefs list 3 or 4 radio frequencies to use for ground control and take off. I understand how to input these in the UFC. Is there a way to determine what each frequency is for?

3.) The mission briefs also list QNH and QFE settings. Thanks to this post ( https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84571 ). I have a little understanding of QNH and QFE. What I'm unsure of is how to input these settings. I'm also unsure of what QFE setting I'm supposed to use (my guess is the inHg ) Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thank you in advance.

1.) The Persian Gulf map and any other module you own will update to the latest version through regular updates of DCS World. You don't need to do anything else.

2.) Indeed, these frequencies refer to the ATC of the airport you're starting from, if I'm not mistaken (because I never look at them, I set up my radios in the Mission Editor). Each ATC has multiple frequencies, in order to accommodate radios with different frequency ranges. Some modules only have U/VHF, some have VHF etc.

3.) You change the altimeter barometric pressure from the knob situated directly to the lower left of the altimeter dial. The units are inHg and you can observe the value you input in the small window on the altimeter and on the HUD, below the altitude reading (it shows up on the HUD only when you change it and briefly when you transition to landing configuration and are below a certain altitude).

A note on #3, you usually calibrate your altimeter to the QNH, so it reads 0 when at 0ft sea level. QFE is the pressure at X altitude. QNH is the pressure at 0ft above mean sea level (MSL). At 0ft, QFE=QNH.
