Windy conditions

Hello,

 

i´m new using the Gazelle. I´ve noticed that during a mission if there is some windy conditions the AUTO HOVER and AUTO PILOT ALT was not working.

 

Does anyone know the maximum wind speed is the limit to get this two commands working ?

For AUTO HOVER, your ground speed must be lower than 18 km/h, and the roll and pitch both lower than 30 degrees. Ref: p130 of the DCS SA342 Flight Manual (en).

 

If there is a cross wind, then it is easy to keep slipping outside of these limits, so the AUTO HOVER will not engage.

 

Note, you can use the DOP setting or the ground-speed on the NADIR to help get you in limits.

Funny you should ask this whilst there are real world restrictions on amount of wind and flying wind doesn't really effect DCS and the Gazelle to get into autohover in my experience. With high wind say 30 to 40K/h autohover the Gazelle will drift, something to be aware of.

BTW I had a brain fart on the NTTR map when making a mission and forgot the height of Nevada above MSL ended up with 100+K/H winds you can actually fly all the helis in DCS with that wind. Lets just say it was interesting. :D

So i will keep on practice and increasing step by step the windy conditions ;)
